Jane D. Schott, 90, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed peacefully to eternal life with her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 3, 2021 Jane's life began in Greenbrier, TN on June 24, 1931. She was the youngest of six children born to Robert Earl and Eunice Covington. After life on the farm, she attended college and worked in Nashville, TN. At the invitation of her sister Deedie, she moved to Kalamazoo, MI and worked as a secretary in the athletic department at WMU. It was during this time that she met Paul Schott on a blind date. They were married on May 4, 1957. They had three children, Eric, Leigh Ann, and Lisa. They celebrated 43 years of marriage before Paul went home to be with the Lord in February 2001. Jane will be remembered fondly for: raising her children in the Lord; reading to her children and grandchildren; teaching cooking/baking skills at home and for 4-H; arranging flowers and sharing flowers and plants from her garden; baking quick breads for neighbors and friends; setting a pretty table; decorating for the seasons; playing basketball and listening to Tiger baseball; feeding birds (especially her chickadees); enjoying concerts and plays; writing letters and cards; serving at PUMC by teaching, cooking, serving on committees, and preparing pews for worship; working at elections; delivering Meals on Wheels with Eric; looking for the person who was new or needed a hand; and reading God's Word in the morning as she had breakfast. In addition to her parents and husband, Jane is predeceased by all her siblings: "Mike", Martha, Ralph, "Deedie", and Sylvia. She is survived by her children: Eric P. Schott, Portage, MI; Leigh Ann (Steve) Den Hartog, Laredo, TX; Lisa Beth (Kevin) Moss, Simpsonville, SC; grandchildren: Joshua (Kassie) Den Hartog; Anna (Jacob) Paulson; Sophie Den Hartog; and Tony Moss; great-grandson: Nathan Den Hartog. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including her goddaughter, Martha Lynn (Mike) Henshaw. A memorial celebration will be held in early summer at Pathfinder United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Elara Caring Hospice Foundation or Meals on Wheels. Langeland Family Funeral Home
