Jan K. Stowe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was born in Kalamazoo to the late J. Ward and Celeste (Kussy) Perry on November 30, 1939. Growing up, she had a special bond with her twin sister, Nan, and they remained best friends throughout her life. She attended Western Michigan University High School and went on to receive her teaching degree at Western Michigan University. She was an elementary school teacher at the Kalamazoo Public Schools for several years. She married her husband, Don, on August 30, 1969 and decided to stay home to care for their two children. Later she would return to teaching as a tutor for dyslexic children at the SLD Center in Kalamazoo. She loved Jesus and shared Him with everyone she knew – she loved Bible Study Fellowship and spent time as a children's leader and group leader. She and her husband also were Crown Financial Ministries Advisors, teaching Christian finances to couples. Spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her the most joy and she spent the majority of her time taking care of them throughout her life. She was an active member at Second Christian Reformed Church until she moved to Bickford Cottage Memory Care late last year.

Survivors include her twin sister, Nan (Patrick) O'Meara; daughter Jennifer (Rob) Houtman; step-daughter Rebecca (Tom) Blackburn; grandchildren: Claire, Madeline and Hannah Houtman, Luke and Caleb Stowe, Justin Sabon, Erika Boehm, and Alexandra and Logan Blackburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Stowe and her son, Donald W. Stowe.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 12:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where family will greet friends from 11:00am until the time of the service. She will then be buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery, next to her husband, at 2:00pm.
