Wright, James 6/29/1924 - 4/17/2020 James "Jim" W. Wright, age 95, of Kalamazoo, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 in Kalamazoo. The son of Scottish immigrants, Robert W. Wright & Mary Howe Dorrans, he was born on June 29, 1924 in Detroit. Jim attended Wayne State University majoring in accounting, then worked for a major Detroit firm until founding his own CPA firm in 1952 in Ypsilanti, eventually expanding his firm to four offices and 50 employees. Jim was active in local community affairs, serving as chairman of the Ypsilanti Zoning Commission, director of Greater Ypsilanti Board of Commerce, and on the board of directors of numerous corporations, including the National Bank of Ypsilanti. He was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Ypsilanti in 1956. He retired from the CPA firm in 1979 and resided in Punta Gorda, FL before returning to Michigan. In retirement, Jim enjoyed motor home traveling for many years. He served as president of the local Airstream chapter, was treasurer of the international Airstream Travel Club, and was the Director of Airstream Caravans, leading caravans throughout North America, including Alaska, Canada, and Mexico. Jim is proceeded in death by his parents; first wife, Sheila Ann Crook; second wife, Marian Seitz; third wife, Ruby Converse; and sister, Lillian Ryan. Surviving is his daughter, Susan (Dr. Roger Beyer) Wright of Paw Paw; son, Dr. Cameron (Debbora Chesney) Wright of South Boston, MA; step-son, Jim (Judy) Seitz of Jackson; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
