James M. Pier, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Ignite Medical Resort in Oak Creek. He was born in Racine, June 27, 1935, son of the late Lawrence and Marie (Nee: Entrop) Pier.

Jim proudly served his country in the US Army. On March 26, 1966, Jim was united in marriage to Gretchen S. Rauch who preceded him in death on July 6, 2000. Jim was employed as a form carpenter, by numerous construction companies through Union Local 161 for many years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. Mary’s by the Lake. Jim loved working in his carpenter shop at his home and was always willing to help others with projects. He enjoyed reading, classical music and cherished time spent with family.

He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by his children, Marcelle (Richard) Benish, Paul Pier and Daniel Pier; grandchildren, Richie, John and Richelle Benish; sister, Joan Petersen, sister-in-law, Joan Pier; nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore, and William.

Funeral Services celebrating Jim’s life will be held at the funeral home, 5:00 pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, on Tuesday, 3:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Private entombment with Full Military Honors will be held at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum. Memorials to the American Diabetes Assn. have been suggested by the family.
