James J. Folkers

Folkers, James J. Portage Passed away Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2023. Jim was born October 7, 1938 in Kalamazoo, the son of Richard and Geraldine (Minor) Folkers. He spent the majority of his time working for Gibson Guitars and Pasma Automotive. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars, playing baseball, watching races, bowling, and spending time with his family. On May 10, 1963 Jim was united in marriage to his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Ellie (Pasma) who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Mike Folkers, Ben (Heidi) Folkers; son-in-law, Brian Nakken; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Big Nick, Hannah, Nate, Naomi, Bethany, Moriah, Little Nic, Jurien, Noah, Rebekah, and Jackson; sister, Nadine Mott; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Nakken; brother, Richard (Margaret) Folkers; sister, Gwen (Bill) Baker; and brother-in-law, Larry Mott. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am on Friday, April 7 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where a memorial service will be held at 11:00am with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. A light reception will follow the service and private interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators.
