James F. Gursky, age 87, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. James was born in Racine, January 17, 1929, son of the late Frank and Edna (Nee: Gerke) Gursky.

During the Korean War from 1948-1952, he proudly served as a staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. He was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1947”. James was employed with the City of Racine for over twenty years, last working as a purchasing agent at the City of Racine Wastewater Treatment Plant, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed fixing things, playing solitaire and cribbage.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Kimberly (George) McBride of Franksville, Tracy Peterson of Racine; his five grandchildren, Shane Peterson, James (Stephany) McBride, Jenna McBride, Shannon Peterson, Kevin Peterson; his great-grandchildren, Aryanna, Nolan, Hannah, Jayde and Jaxyn; brother, Frank (Sally) Gursky of Union Grove; sister, Joan (Harry) Hennigh of Atchison, KS; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project have been suggested.
