James Esman

Esman, James L., Sr. Kalamazoo Age 79, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022. Jim was born in Kalamazoo on July 16, 1943, the son of the late Jacob and Minnie (Baker) Esman. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jim worked at Town & Country Grocery Store before spending 25 years at Allied Paper Company. He also worked part-time at Portage Public Schools. On July 10, 1970, he married the former Carol M. Bell, who preceded him in death on August 25, 2012. Jim was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ruthanne Nufer, Harvey Esman and Duane Esman. He is survived by his sons, James L., Jr. (Cindy) Esman and Justin (Tura) Esman; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother, John L. (Gayle) Esman and special nephew and niece, John & Carrie Esman. A funeral service will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Bruce Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on the day of the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Lighthouse Community Church.
