Obituary
James Byron Carroll passed on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Jim was born on November 26, 1963, to Robert and Marcene Carroll. He was the youngest of 4 children, growing up in Parchment. He was a great athlete excelling at basketball, football and track. He still holds the school record at Parchment High for the discus at 154 feet 6 inches. Jim went on to be a dedicated UPS driver for over 35 years and was loved by so many on his route. After retiring, he continued his service delivering flowers for Schafer's Flowers. He had a talent for grilling, landscaping, and being a genuine great guy. If you were lucky enough to be in his circle, you were his forever friend.
Jim married his wife, Amy in 1997 and together they raised 2 wonderful sons, Jake and Nick. They all shared their love for music, cars, boating, baseball, good food, friends and family. He often said, "I try my best to be just like I am" and showed his family by example how to be the best versions of themselves.
He was preceded in death by his parents and faithful Malamute, Otis.
Jim is survived by Amy, Jake and Nick along with his brother Bruce, sister Barbara, and brother Dave (Lauren), in-laws, Dan and Joyce McClellan, David, Eric (Sarah) McClellan and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jim Hunt, the specialists at University of Michigan Health and countless friends and family for their care and support. There will be a celebration of Jim's life on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4-7pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a time of sharing will begin at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to the Gilmore Car Museum, a place Jim dearly loved.
