James A. Voss Sr., age 81, passed away with his family at his side, Monday, July 25, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. James was born in Racine, December 21, 1934, son of the late William and Helen (Nee: Horvath) Voss.

James proudly served his nation with the United States Navy aboard the U.S. APA-36 Cambria attack Transport from 1957 through 1959. He was employed by Massey Ferguson as a technical writer for thirty-two years, retiring in 1992 and then worked for AGCO, retiring in 1996. Jim was the proud Director for the “Regals of Racine,” color guard for ten years in which his daughters marched. More than anything he treasured time with his family, camping trips, fishing with his brothers, and tinkering with small projects on the farm.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Vickie (John) Binzak, Vashelle (Paul) Brannon, Officer Venise Voss, James Voss Jr., Vanessa (Dan) Bohmann; his grandchildren, Allison and John Jr. Binzak, Dylan (Laura) Brannon, Erin Brannon, Devin, Logan, and Nolan Bohmann; brothers and sister, George (Virgina) Voss, Eileen (Dale) Dyer, Ret. Lt. Dave (Cathy) Voss; sister-in-law, Dotti Voss; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Inspector William Voss Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Private interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Per Jim’s request memorials to the Paralyzed Veteran’s of America have been suggested.
