RYLKO - Jadwiga Lenartowicz Rylko, aged 100, passed on Thursday, December 2, 2010. Born in Lodz, Poland, she received a medical degree and was completing a pediatrics residency when World War II started. The war interrupted her career and changed the course of her life. She survived Nazi concentration camps, then met her husband in a postwar refugee camp and in 1950, immigrated to the U.S. to begin a new life. She is predeceased by four sisters and by her husband, Wladyslaw Rylko. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rylko-Bauer; son-in-law, Daniel Bauer; grandson, John; and family in Poland. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church (1449 Wilcox Park Dr.), Fr. James Chelich officiating. Visitation will be held at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. (with a brief vigil service, 8:40 p.m.).
