Jacob "Jake" Frank Zastko, 94, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was a devout Catholic and loved the Lord. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Jake had a distinguished career in golf, including a victory in the 1958 New Jersey PGA Championship, qualifying him to play in both the U.S. Open and the National PGA Championship, among many other accolades he earned Life Member status with the PGA of America. He mentored many golfers and worked at Spring Lake Golf & Country Club, Paramus Golf Course, and PGA National Golf Course. Jake was originally from Jamesburg, New Jersey, but lived in Jupiter, Florida for over 30 years before moving to Galesburg, Michigan in 2024.
Jake is survived by his wife, Teresita; children, Stephen, Doreen (Thomas), Thomas, Peter, Brian (Sara), and Mary Katherine (John); seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will take place at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Battle Creek VA Medical Center.
