Isabella "Ruth" Beckman, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Centrica Rose Arbor, Place. She was born on August 2, 1932, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to the late Rollie and Margaret (Watson) Hall. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School. It was during that time, she met the love of her life, Frederick Beckman. They were married on July 5, 1952, and celebrated nearly 54 years of marriage together before Fred passed away.

Ruth spent her career as a data processor at Brunswick Corporation and later at The Upjohn Company, from which she retired. She loved all crafts, especially crocheting, cross-stitch, and sewing.

Ruth and Fred loved to travel, especially taking trips to Alaska, Hawaii and several cruises. Camping was a big part of their life, graduating from a pop-up camper to motor homes. The "camping group" was a very special group of friends and many trips were taken with them. They were ready for any adventure. A yearly tubing trip, on the Muskegon River, was a favorite time. Ruth even went on the river last year. It is a tradition that has continued with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She owned a mobile home in Florida for 20 years at Winterset Resort, which was her "happy place" in the winter. She participated in many activities and made many dear friends there.

Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church (Pathfinder) in Portage and was active until her later years.

Ruth loved her family most of all. She leaves behind her children, Bruce (Linda) Beckman, Nancy Beckman, and Robert (Paula) Beckman; five grandchildren, Brent (Genia) Beckman, Julie (Greg Sthay) Beckman, Nicole Enzweiler, Matthew (Anna) Baird, and Allison (Brock) Schmidt; 7 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Gracie, Barrett, Aubrey, Bryce, Simone, and Braxton; sister, Margaret (Gerald) Petersen; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred and her grandson, Paul.

"Gigi" will be missed by all.

Per Ruth's wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

It was also Ruth's wish for memorial donations to be given to Centrica Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo or The American Cancer Society.
