Irene Wilson of Santa Monica, California passed away peacefully, January 13, 2017, at home at the age of 98 after a difficult illness. Irene was a happy, independent person who loved life and made the most of it. She was a ferocious card player, great dancer, patient fisherman and would do almost anything to help family or friends. At the age of 69 she left her home in Kalamazoo and moved to California to be with her daughter and grandson. She immediately made new friends and continued on with her full life, even mastering the infamous Los Angeles Freeways. She liked to go to Las Vegas and always insisted she came out a winner. She would play with the children in her life for hours and they loved her. She will be missed. She is survived by her loving daughter who took care of her, Caryle (Robert) Wilson Anger, Santa Monica, California and her grandson Robben Wilson Anger, Brooklyn, New York. A special cousin Leo (Betty) Cook and their children Kevin (Mary) Cook, Kathy Cook and Leo and Betty's grandchildren that she treated as her own. She is survived by two sisters-in-law Doris (Wilson) Chopp and Maryan (Wilson) Carter and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Fawn Cook, her husband Richard Wilson, sister Marian Husted and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held this summer in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
