Kobreek , Irene Mattawan Irene E. Kobreek passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. She was 93. Irene was born on August 20, 1928 to Carl & Melitta Federwisch, in Sheboygan Falls, WI. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1946. Irene met Don Kobreek at the roller skating rink and they were united in marriage on June 19, 1948. Don preceded her in death in March, 1999. Surviving are her children Don Kobreek (Dawn), Kathy Kobreek, Tom Kobreek (Rosie), Teri Wolff (Ken), Marge Veenkant (Gary), Nancy Cummins & George Kobreek (partner Christopher Venetis) Surviving in WI are sister-in-law Joyce Federwisch, sister-in-law Gail Federwisch, and many nieces & nephews. Irene also has 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was blessed in many ways, and one was a large family! She loved being a wife and mother, and it came naturally to her. She was a strong and very loving woman. To know her was to love her. Irene loved to cook, bake and feed family and friends. Back in the day, you'd always hear her saying "Keep Eating!". Her husband Don loved to golf, and although Irene never golfed, she was there at their FL condo located on a golf course with a thermos of coffee, a snack, lunch and dinner whenever Don took a break from his 36 hole-a-day habit. Irene was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic church. She loved to see all her church friends, and it often took her several minutes to make it down the aisle due to her stopping to say hello to everyone. It was such a sweet thing to witness. Irene was a longtime member of Bronson Lakeview Auxiliary, where she served on the Board for many years. She helped with the Parade of Homes, the annual Ladies Luncheon Fashion show, where she would visit local restaurants and stores asking for donations for door prizes. She was outgoing and never hesitated to speak her mind. Irene's family has cared for her at home the past 14 months. It gave her kids & grandkids the opportunity to spend quality time with her, as well as discovering her favorite, and not so favorite foods. She loved that she got to spend her final months and days receiving calls and visits from family, friends and neighbors. While she will be greatly missed, she lived a good long life, for which we are all extremely grateful. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 23830 Front Ave., Mattawan, MI on Wed., Sept. 8th at 11a.m. with Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen officiating. Graveside services will immediatley follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to a time of food & fellowship at Irene's home following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Bosco Church or Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Share a memory or sign the online tribute wall at: www.adamspawpaw.com
