Hennie Wilhelmina Kloosterman, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 16, 2024. She was born December 22, 1940 in Groningen, The Netherlands, the daughter of the late Eisse and Hinderkien Wilhelmina (Eisses) Woldhuis. She emigrated to America in 1948, then after 2 years in Terra Ceia, N.C. moved to Kalamazoo, MI.

Hennie graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1958 and attended the Marion Louise Withey Training School for Nurses and Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, finishing in 1960. She spent time at a manufacturing job at American Seating in Grand Rapids and then worked with data entry as a Coding Operator for the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. Hennie was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. She liked to exercise, knit, crochet, cross stitch, do crossword puzzles, and enjoyed anything to do with swans. She also loved traveling, especially to Florida for many years, and visiting Sandy Pines. Hennie kept busy and volunteered at several organizations, including SERA (State Employment Retirees Association), First Presbyterian Health Clinic, Woods Lake Elementary, Tower Family Credit Union, and Lending Hands.

Hennie is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Walter James Kloosterman; children, Connie (Daniel) Schlukebir, Mary (Robert) Dice, Walter "Wally" (Maria) Kloosterman, and Richard (Lynn) Kloosterman; as well as, 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and her younger brother, Arnold (Barb) Woldhuis.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 9:30-11:30am at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49008, where a service will follow at 11:30am. A committal prayer and time for food and fellowship will immediately follow at the church. Hennie will be laid to rest at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
