MCPHERSON, Hazel L. Otsego, MI Hazel L. McPherson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 2, 2018, with her loving family by her side at the Wings Home in Allegan. Hazel was born October 6, 1917 in Otsego, the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Dymon) Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Otsego and graduated valedictorian from Otsego High School. She was the co-founder of McPherson Plastics. Throughout her life she did everything from running a machine to keeping her meticulous accounting ledgers, working until the age of 97. Hazel was an avid quilter. She also enjoyed watching a variety of birds in her back yard, was a passionate reader, and loved traveling to Mackinac Island with her family. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Otsego. On January 22, 1939 in Bangor she married her junior high sweetheart, Bernard "Bud" McPherson who passed away in 2000. Surviving are her children, Melinda (Bruce) Kling, Bud Jr. (denny) McPherson, Roger (Linda) McPherson and Tim (Diane) McPherson; 8 grandchildren, Beth Stewart, Gary Kling, Brian McPherson, Amy Pueblo, Lyssa McPherson, Mark McPherson, Sarah Selkirk and Mike McPherson; 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and her siblings, Betty Cassidy, Harry Brown, Barbara Scott and Katherine Corder. Friends may visit with Hazel's family from 3-5 P.M. and 7-9 P.M., Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 with Pastor Darin Youngs officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. Contributions in memory of Hazel may be made to the Wings Home of Allegan or First Congregational Church of Otsego.
