Harry Browne

August 8, 2023
Kalamazoo, MI

Harry Browne, known as Charlie Browne to most of his many friends, passed away in Kalamazoo on August 8, 2023. Harry was born in Illinois to Harry and MaryLou (Porter) Browne on July 30, 1953.

Harry was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Hackett High School, and eventually embarked upon a career in automotive repair, achieving the status of Master Mechanic before his retirement.

Harry enjoyed spending time with his dog, Buddy, who was his constant companion. He was fond of spending time with family and friends, backyard grilling, and tackling home improvement projects. Harry had a kind and generous spirit and was the first to offer help to friends (and often strangers) in need. If you needed a ride to an appointment or someone to run an errand, he was always available. More than once, he pulled over to offer assistance to a stranger experiencing car trouble, including paying for the required parts and repairing the vehicle free of charge! Harry had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. When he started a project or developed a new interest or hobby, he endeavored to learn as much as he could about it.

Harry passionately loved music. He spent many years running sound systems for local bands and musicians, and he could spend hours playing his guitar. Harry enjoyed discussing his favorite musicians and being introduced to new music in all genres.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry C. and MaryLou (Porter) Browne. He is survived by his partner of over 35 years, Nancy Britten, Daughter Elizabeth (Browne) Mayhew, son Matthew C. Browne, and grandchildren Nicholas, Liliane, Cristian, Jordan, and Evangeline, and Nicole White.

Above all, Harry (Charlie) Browne will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.

In accordance with Harry's wishes, no services will be held. While visiting, please sign Harry's guestbook and/or share a memory with his family.
