Gwendolyn Tulk

Tulk, Gwendolyn R. 4/20/1917 - 9/5/2022 Kalamazoo, MI Gwendolyn was the daughter of Crandall Oscar "Oll" and Lucy Ellen (Stafford) Russell. She was born April 20, 1917, in Almena, Michigan. She finished Mattawan High School going on to WMU for a BA in education. She taught five years in Michigan and Illinois and returned to Kalamazoo to earn her MA degree in librarianship. She became a school librarian in the Kalamazoo Public School system at Lincoln Junior High, Northeastern Junior High, and South Junior High, where she retired in 1982. Gwendolyn was a member of ALA, NEA, MEA, and KARSP. She was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels, AARP, Senior Services. She belonged to the La Amigas Club. Her family was her joy. She loved her home, garden (weeds and all), and keeping up with the family history. She was an avid reader and ready to travel at the drop of a hat. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Olin Russell; a sister, Wanda Scott, her son, Charles R. Fulbright; a cousin, Lois Bell, both husbands, Charles A. Fulbright, and Henry P. Tulk; stepsons, Donald, and Darryl Tulk; and a special friend, Beatrice (Midge) Clawson. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Susan Fulbright; grandsons, Joshua Fulbright, and Charles R. (Chris) Fulbright; great-grandchildren, Noah, Amelia, and Elliot Fulbright; stepsons, Dennis (Barbara) Tulk, Douglas (Debbie) Tulk, and James (Amy) Tulk; two favorite nephews, Albert Russell, and Leonard Scott; a special cousin, Robin Simpson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lot of friends. Gwendolyn Tulk had chosen to be cremated and requested no service. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to Meals on Wheels.
