Gregory Glass

Gregory Allen Glass, age 53, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI. A celebration of life will be at noon Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Mt. Calvary Christian Bible Church, 1434 N. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Gregory was born Aug. 19, 1963, to Pollie Jackson and Allen Glass in Benton Harbor. He was a 1981 graduate of Benton Harbor High School. On Dec. 28, 1981, Greg married the love of his life Rita Reid and to this union one daughter was born. Gregory served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was employed by Ted's Appliances where he worked faithfully until his health failed. Greg's favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing and spending time with his only grandson, Billy III. He leaves fond memories in the heart of his wife of 34 years, Rita Glass of Kalamazoo; one daughter, Ja' Sheika (Billy Jr.) Glass-Woods of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Billy III and Laila Woods; his mother, Pollie Stovall of Kalamazoo; three brothers; seven sisters; two stepbrothers; three stepsisters; four sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; his mother-in-law, Rosie Hicks; a very special aunt, Nellie Nichols of Georgia; best friend, Kevin Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Glass; stepfather, James Stovall; father-in-law, James Hicks; stepbrother, Gene Stovall; and best friend, Garlin "Cookie" Hicks. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitley Memorial Funeral Home, Kalamazoo, 488-2401. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
