Grace Beeke-Thrasher

Grace Beeke-Thrasher, age 74, of Texas Twp. went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2015. Grace was born in Portage, MI, on April 5, 1941, the daughter of the late Bastian and Johanna (Gruizinga) Beeke. She was also preceded in passing by two siblings, John and Christian Beeke. Grace lived in Georgia for a short time and then returned to make Kalamazoo her home. She was a faithful woman who had a strong foundation in the Lord. She loved listening to the classic hymns and reading her Bible. Her faith led her to be a person of character who was a joy to be around. She was selfless, and went out of her way to help others. She was a hard worker who was employed as a waitress at Schwartz's and the Beacon Club. When not working, she loved to play bingo, paint, and enjoyed the outdoors. Grace's name fit her perfectly and she leaves a life full of wonderful memories for the people she loved. Her warm smile and gentle nature will be missed. Grace is survived by six children, Robin, Jay, Scott, Jodie, Christopher and Johanna; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Adrian and William Beeke, Ethel Mack, and Robert Beeke; many nieces, nephews and great friends. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 8, 2015, from 11:00 to 1:00PM. A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Orangeville, MI.
