Gloria Korteway

Gloria Korteway passed away Monday, Apr 20, 2015 at the age of 74. Gloria was a lifelong resident, born in Kalamazoo on Feb. 9, 1941 the daughter of the late Neil Kievit and Joe and Mable (Anson) Detwieler. Gloria attended Kalamazoo Central High School, she graduated in 1958. Gloria worked for Gilmore Advertising, then worked in her own advertising business Graphic Circus. She was an avid antique dealer buying and selling in several antique malls and many summer antique fairs. Gloria loved the antique business and even was marketing her antiques in her last days. She was united in marriage to Garritt Korteway, Jr. on November 2, 1962 and has 2 children: daughter Kimberly (Bill Van Tassel) Korteway and son Jeffrey (Heather Jacobs) Korteway; 2 grandchildren, Katrina Van Tassel and Andrew Van Tassel; 2 siblings an older brother Don (Jo) Kievit and Gwen (Gary) Hamilton. Gloria was devoted to her family and her many dear friends. Gloria made friends wherever she went. The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., where a funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:00am. Private family entombment will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
