Gloria Elaine (Anderson) Mangee, beloved mother, wife, grandmother and pillar of the community passed away peacefully at her home in Palo Alto, California on October 4, 2023 at the age of 92. Born on July 24, 1931 in Hightstown, New Jersey to John Birdsall Anderson and Edna Mary Wolfe, she lived her life with grace, compassion and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.

Gloria was a woman of remarkable strength and resilience. She married her soulmate Charles on July 3, 1955 and their love story spanned a remarkable 68 years, a testament to their deep devotion to each other. Together they raised a loving family inculcating in their children and grandchildren the values of kindness and integrity. They raised their 3 children in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After spending 10 years in Seabrook Island, South Carolina they moved to California (Palo Alto and Santa Rosa) in 2003 to be close to their grandchildren.

Gloria had many talents and passions. She possessed a green thumb, nurturing gardens that flourished with flowers and vegetables, attracting a variety of birds and animals that she loved to care for. She was also an avid tennis and bridge player, and a lifelong fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants (football) and the New York Islanders hockey team. In recent years, she also enthusiastically managed a Fantasy Football team with her daughter.

She was very active in the 10 different communities she lived in during her life, volunteering countless hours to many organizations that sought to uplift and support others. She was a woman of action eager to lend a helping hand. Her selfless spirit touched countless lives, leaving a positive effect on the communities she cherished. She felt privileged to have lived in so many different parts of the United States (Eastern, Southern, Midwestern and Western) and enjoyed her travels in other parts of the world. Her most memorable trips were to her ancestral homeland Scotland and visiting Charles' relatives in Italy.

Throughout her life, Gloria touched the hearts of many people, leaving a legacy of love, kindness and a strong dedication to the betterment of society. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren without reserve, and cared deeply for her extended family and dear friends. She loved God, Jesus and her country. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving family and the many lives she enriched with her warmth, compassion and unwavering spirit.

Gloria is survived by her husband Charles, her children Elizabeth Jones, Thomas Mangee and Jonathan Mangee (Linda Carley), and her grandchildren Kenny Jones (Juliana Veira), Madeline Jones and Ella Jones, and a host of extended family and friends. She lives behind a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Look for her amidst the birds.

And let her soar forever free.

A love too great to put in words,

Forever fueled by our hearts' memories.
