Vlietstra, Glenn J. Kalamazoo Went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Glenn was born on June 25, 1936, in Kalamazoo. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Neloise (Koenig) and his children and step-children and their spouses: Brenda (Mike) Mejeur Davis, Jodi (Scott) Graham, Bruce (Julie) Vlietstra, Jenifer Vlietstra; Lisa (Darrell) Schoppa, Lori (Bruce) McDonald, Timothy (Terri) Koenig, Jennifer Koenig; 23 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; four brothers Harold Vlietstra, Ray (Linda) Vlietstra, Paul (Phyllis) Vlietstra, Allen (Robin) Vlietstra; and one sister Janice (Dennis) VanDenBerg; sister-in-law Betty Vlietstra, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents John and Jessie (Westerhof) Vlietstra, son-in-law Tim Mejeur, great-grandson Lewis, brothers Donald and Clarence Vlietstra, and sister Betty Jean Leep. As a young man Glenn worked at A &P Grocery and the Kalamazoo Gazette. He graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School, attended Survey School at Lansing Community College, and served in the US army. Glenn worked as a Sr. Road Technician Level 5 for the Michigan Department of Transportation and as a truck driver for Peterman Greenhouses and Balkema Sand & Gravel. After retirement, Glenn liked traveling with his wife and motorcycling with friends. He looked forward to breakfast with friends and "Friday lunches." Glenn was passionate about cars ..collecting cars big and small, racing cars, watching Nascar races, driving cars and attending car shows. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, April 3, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 and from 10-11am on Tuesday, April 4, at Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 South 8th Street, Kalamazoo, Mi. 49009, where funeral services will follow at 11am. Private family interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association or the Kalamazoo Deacon's Conference.
