Gladys Vaughn

Gladys A.Vaughn, 96, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She was born June 23, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late James Paull and Helen (Belle) Paull. Gladys enjoyed sewing and worked as a seamstress by trade. Even in her senior years, Gladys was an aerobic instructor until she was 95 at the senior center. She loved listening to music, dancing and reading books on her Kindle. Gladys was married to Charles Ragland and later to Irving Vaughn, both whom preceded her in death. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Juan) Giscombe of Mattawan, grandchildren, Nora (Andrew) Truman, Stephen (Kristina) Giscombe, Monica Wilson, Craig (Natalie) Ragland, Darren (Teneil) Ragland, Debra (Martin) Washington, Erika (Lionel) Lee, Monica (David) Wilson, Stephanie Bender, Lucas (Brooke) Radech and Victoria (Kenny) Witt, 21 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Ella Nora Ragland, her son, Sidney M. Ragland, brothers, James Paull and Wilbur Paull, sisters, Jeanette Blackwell, Dorothy Starks and Zelma Johnson. The family will receive friends Wednesday June 30, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church Paw Paw, mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Burial will conclude at Saint Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Mary Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
