Gladys O. Close, age 82, passed away Sunday July 19, 2015 at the Elizabeth Residence in Oak Creek. Gladys was born in Racine on October 7, 1932, daughter of the late John and Olga (nee: Weitkum) Neumann.

She was a proud graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1950. Gladys was employed with S.C. Johnson for over twenty years until her retirement in 1997. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and a member of the Mothers of Twins Club. In her spare time, Gladys enjoyed bowling, gardening, and her travels. She always loved her dogs through the years, but it was her family, especially her grandchildren that gave her the most joy.

Gladys will be dearly missed by her three sons, Kevin Close of Waukesha, Todd Close, Tom (Laura) Close, all of Racine; grandchildren, Lorenzo, Jackie, Connor, Ciara and Caitlyn; great grandson, Braxton; brother-in-law, Walter (Mary) Jensen of Kenosha; nephews, Richard Jensen of Racine, David (Bonnie) Jensen of Waukesha; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Gladys was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Ellen Neumann, and sisters, Marjorie Jensen and Joanne Neumann.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3700 Washington Ave, Thursday, July 23, 2015, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Randall Poppe officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation have been suggested.
