Geraldine Brown

Geraldine Ann Brown (Schrauwen), aged 82 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord, at her home on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Brown, her parents, Frank and Katherine Schrauwen; her siblings and their spouses; Edward (Betty) Schrauwen, Frank Schrauwen, Helen (Walt) Glovick, Harold (Evelyn) Schrauwen, Beatrice (Bob) Molhoek, Morrie Schrauwen, She is survived by her children, Kevin (Patti) Brown, Coleen (Ted) Lewis, Roxanne (Scott) Parent, Randy (Alice) Brown, Patrick Brown; her two special nieces, Kathy Glovick and Jan Roys; grandchildren, Joshua Brown, Jessica Brown, Darryl (Dani) Parent, Amanda (Jimmy) Russell, Keith Lewis, Sarah Parent, Ryan (Jamie) Brown, Nick Brown, Todd Lewis, Gabriel Brown; four great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Agnes Schrauwen; many nieces, nephews and friends. Geraldine grew up on Grand Rapids northwest side, the last of seven children. She graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School. She married and moved to the country to raise her children with Howard on the “farm”. She loved family activities, bowling, her friends and Tops Club. She never missed cards or board games on family nights. She loved country music before it was cool. She loved to travel, especially Florida in the winter and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. She was a member of St. James Parish, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 23, at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 733 Bridge St. NW. Burial in Blythfield Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet her family at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home – 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm with the rosary prayed at 7:00 PM.
