Obituary
TIBBE (Bailey) - It is with some sadness and sorrow, yet exceeding great joy, that we announce the Homegoing of Gerald Tibbe to the arms of his Heavenly Father; Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Humorist. He was Patriarch of a grand clan of nine children, 37 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of friends. This gentle, kind hearted, humble man of great Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, slipped quietly into eternity on Tuesday, the 10th of April, 2007; surrounded by his devoted wife, Ellen, and several of his loving offspring. Gerald was born in Grant, Michigan on September 3, 1926. Gerald attended Rogue River School and graduated from Grant High School in 1944. Following graduation he enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy (Reinink) Cecil, brothers, Adrian, Donald and Gordon. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen (Murray); children, Linda (Larry) Haveman, Mary (Jim) Johnson, JoAnne (Scott) Vukin, Jerry (Marge) Tibbe, Jim (Becky) Tibbe, Susan (Lee) Hall, Patti (Dave) Wilkis, Tim (Brooke) Tibbe, and Julie (Andy) Spencer; 37 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his brother, John (MaeRita); sisters-in-law, Mae Tibbe, Helen Tibbe, Pat Tibbe; and many nieces and nephews. Gerald loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully at Bailey Church of Christ as member and Elder and at the Northland Church of Christ as a charter member and founding Elder. He held many positions in his years of service and encouraged many by his faithful example. The family will greet visitors Friday evening the 13th of April at the Northland Church of Christ, 9891 Mason Drive, Grant, Michigan from 6 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Celebration will be held Saturday, the 14th of April at 2 p.m. also at the Northland Church of Christ.
