Gerald "Jerry" L. Stoughton, 102 of Portage, MI., passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2024. He was born on January 22, 1922, in River Rouge, MI to Fred and Helen (Jacobs) Stoughton.

Jerry dutifully served in the United States Navy and was ranked a Seaman First Class. He married his first wife and mother to his children, Mary May (Mundinger) Stoughton for 32 years, who precedes him in death. He married his second wife, Margie (Merrill) Foster for 34 years, she also precedes him in death.

Jerry was proud to serve our country during World War II with the U.S. Navy Armed Guard and loved to wear his favorite WWII U.S. Navy Armed Guard hat around the area. Jerry was also a proud 30 year member of the Teamsters Union. He also loved the outdoors, camping and woodworking, he made beautiful birdhouses! Above all he always kept a young at heart sense of humor.

Jerry is survived by his sons Robert and Danny Stoughton, stepson Mark Foster, stepdaughter Tina, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Owens, son Dale Stoughton, and siblings Harold Stoughton, Morris Stoughton, Lewis Stoughton, and Mariyon Watkins.

Services for Jerry will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes 411 East Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49002, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Friends are invited to greet the family from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and a memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm. The service will be livestreamed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Jerry may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
