George Kelley

George L. Kelley, of Kalamazoo, MI, with his loving wife at his bedside, died peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the age of 79. He was born in Newberry, MI, on November 16, 1935, to the late Robert and Mary (McKenzie) Kelley. George was a veteran of the United States Navy and very proud of his Irish heritage. He will be remembered as generous, but opinionated. He wanted to see those he cared about most be successful. George loved playing golf, watching golf or Fox News on TV, but he was most proud of his family. George is survived by his wife Elsie; children, Tony (Judy) Sanderson of Plainwell, Mark Slater of Kalamazoo, and Jerry Slater of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Jeremy Sanderson, Rachel Sanderson, Derek Slater, and Kacee Slater. Also surviving are brothers, Richard (Pat) Roberts of Lawton, and David (Linda) Roberts of Portage; and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his twin brother, William Kelley. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. His family is scheduling a memorial service for a future date. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel.
