Gary Orville Deuel (Doc) was called to his eternal home from Florida while fighting a fearless twelve-year battle with cancer.

He was born October 16th, 1943 to Gilbert and Emma (Abbott) who preceded him in death.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife Martha (Crafts) Deuel, brother Carroll (Dru) Deuel, brother-in-law Don (Sue) Crafts, brother-in-law Barry (Mary) Hart, brother-in-law Brian(Deb) Crafts, and much loved nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Western Michigan University, he met his wife, Martha, while attending a WMU football game. They married in 1965 and continued their love and commitment for over fifty-eight years.

Gary's entire teaching career was spent at Centreville Public Schools where his passion was to see all of his students succeed in life.

Teaching, along with farming the family centennial farm, kept Gary and Martha very busy. However, they still made time for family, friends, and church activities.

Retirement left time for traveling in their RV and eventually spending their winters in Avion Palms RV Resort in Florida.

Gary was a "people person" and even while battling cancer, he loved to meet new people. While receiving treatment, he and Martha handed out daily devotionals to patients and supported them in their cancer journey.

He was loved and will be missed by many people.

Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20th. at New Hope Family Church 201 West Michigan Ave Paw Paw, MI. 49079. Visitation begins at 12:00 with the Memorial Service at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bronson Cancer Center, New Hope Church, or The Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
