Fred Richard "Rick" Hunter III, age 75, of Allegan, MI passed away on August 6, 2016 soon after being diagnosed with cancer. Rick was born on August 25, 1940 in Pontiac, Michigan to Teddy and Julie Hunter, who preceded him in death. While attending Allegan High School, Jack Moss, sports writer with the Kalamazoo Gazette, called Rick the "Allegan Super Star". After graduating in 1958, Rick attended Miami of Ohio before completing his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University. He was a history major with a love for the Civil War Era. Abraham Lincoln was one of his role models. He obtained his law degree from Wayne State University. Rick then went into private practice and was City Attorney for the City of Kalamazoo. He then became Prosecuting Attorney for Allegan County from 1974 - 1988. Soon after, he ventured into private practice. Rick was a member of the Michigan Bar Association for 50 years. Throughout his years, he loved traveling, sports, concerts, and crossword puzzles. Rick was lucky at cards and spent hours playing bridge with family and friends at their family cottage on North Beach, South Haven. He loved his family and would talk to anyone who would listen about his daughters and grandchildren. He was a great friend to many. Rick is survived by his children, Sarah Hunter (Pat) Hodapp of Plainwell, Beth Hunter (Bob) Loftus of Allegan, Laura Hunter (Morgan) Sullivan of Allegan; his grandchildren Johnathan and Veronica Klein, Gavin and Shea Hodapp, Ben, Thomas, and Roxy Loftus, and Hunter and Emma Sullivan; his siblings Nan Hunter Vincent, Tom (Rosie) Hunter, and Jane Hunter; nephews Tom (Beth Delaney) Doyle, John Doyle, and Bill (Riccardo Salmona) Doyle; niece Annie Hunter; wife Sharon; and many cousins and family members. Friends and family are invited for an Irish Wake/Visitation at Cheshire Hills Golf Course on Sunday, August 14th from 3 to 6 PM where a song and a final toast will be held at 5:01. There will be a private burial at a later date.
