Fred Curtis

ith sadness, we announce the passing of Fred Donald Curtis, age 88, of Portage, MI. Fred passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 5, 2026.

Fred was born on March 26, 1938, in Kalamazoo, MI, to Frederick and Marjorie (Ettwein) Curtis.

Fred enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, working on cars, and throwing horseshoes. He especially enjoyed his spot on the lake and the many boats he owned and enjoyed over the years. Most of all, Fred loved his family, and nothing meant more to him than the time he was able to spend with them.

Fred will be dearly missed by his children, Randy (Ronda) Curtis of Vicksburg, MI, Connie (Mike) Ketchum of Grayling, MI, Cathy Curtis of Kalkaska, MI, and Fred (Ellyn) Curtis of Scotts, MI; brother, Jim Curtis of Scotts, MI; sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Vicksburg, MI, and Judy Curtis of Portage, MI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Curtis; son, Rodney Curtis; siblings, Gary Curtis, Ron Curtis, and Joanie Stoner; and his parents, Frederick and Marjorie Curtis.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Vicksburg MI in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred's memory to Austin Lake Riparians (ALR).
