Frank Godzwa, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Middleville, MI passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at Metro Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. He was 73 years old. Frank was born in Erie, PA and served in the US Navy 1961-1964. His first duty was as a Presidential honor guard for John F. Kennedy. From there he went on to serve on the USS Antietam and the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carriers. He later retired from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of employment. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed sports, fishing, travel, and spending time with friends and family. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Mary Godzwa, and youngest daughter Tina Godzwa. He is survived by his wife and best friend of nearly 52 years, Sharon (Dunklee) Godzwa, originally from Martin, MI, eldest daughter Tammy McGee and her husband Kris McGee of Long Beach, CA, daughter Sherry Stout of Wayland, MI, grandson Jeffery Stout and his wife Tessa of Dorr, MI, granddaughter Nicole Todd of Las Vegas, NV, and great-granddaughter Remington Stout of Dorr, MI. A memorial service with military honors is planned for Thursday, May 26, 2016, 11:30 AM at Coman Cemetery, Shaw Lake Rd near Briggs in Middleville, MI, followed by a luncheon reception at the VFW, 735 Main Street, Wayland, MI. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, Memorial and Honor Gifts, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
