Frances G. O’Brien, age 101, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Frances was born on a farm in Stockton, Illinois, December 19, 1914, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Nee: Ayres) Glaser.

On February 27, 1935 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gratiot she was united in marriage to Herbert A. O’Brien who preceded her in death, September 11, 1995. She was a longtime dedicated member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Lucy Catholic Church. Above all she will be fondly remembered for her great love and devotion to her large family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Duane O’Brien, Richard (Alice) O’Brien, Darlene (Edward) Tanner, David O’Brien, Delano O’Brien, Dan (Rosemary “Tyke”) O’Brien, Dennis (Priscilla) O’Brien; daughter-in-law, Bonnie O’Brien; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Dwight (Patricia) O’Brien; two grandsons, Dr. Richard J. O’Brien II, Perry O’Brien; daughters-in-law, Dorothy O’Brien, Gloria O’Brien; and brother, James (Ramona) Glaser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 2, 2016, 11:30 A.M. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones and Rev. John Schmidt concelebrating. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:30 A.M. Memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Frances’s son, Del, for all his exceptional loving care through the years and to the Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints second floor staff for their compassionate care.
