Luke, Florence "Timmy" Of Kalamazoo, MI Today we mourn the loss, and celebrate the memory of our mother. Our mom was born Florence Ellen Sterk, but to the lucky ones who knew her, she was called Timmy. Timmy was born November 7, 1927 in Marquette, MI the daughter of William and Florence (Skinner) Sterk and was raised in Calumet, MI. On December 31, 2020, at 93 years old, wrapped in our Lord's arms, mom peacefully left this world, and is now reunited with her 1st born son Mike. In her early years she worked as a flight attendant with American Airlines. Later she worked evenings as an admitting clerk for Borgess Hospital, as her day job was caring for her family at home. Her unwavering faith in God always sustained her, and throughout the years she was affiliated with both St. Monica and St. Catherine Catholic Churches. Timmy's happiness always came from a life centered on God and her family, and nothing brought her more joy than being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by six children: Donald B. Luke (spouse Nancy), William T. Luke, Mary "Kathy" Luke Markee (spouse Steve), Karen E. Luke, Kimberly A. Luke Stafford, Mark M. Luke (spouse Teresa); nine loving grandchildren: Matthew, Jordan, Casey, Carly, Jessie, Brooke, Alex, Nolan and Addy, and extended her love to her great-grandchildren: Lexi, Gavin and Logan. Timmy was preceded in death by her beloved son Gary (Mike); her former husband George Oliver (Bud); her parents William and Florence Sterk; her adopted parents Frank and Gladys Boy; her sisters Louise Taylor and Frances Peters. Private family visitation has taken place at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo. Due to Covid concerns a memorial celebration of Timmy's life will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions in Timmy's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
