Evelyn Joan (Grube) Boven was born on January 1, 1936. Evelyn passed away on May 12, 2024 in Sandy, Utah. Evelyn married the love of her life Robert Dale Boven on September 7, 1956. Evelyn was surely welcomed in Heaven by her husband and best friend, Bob, and her son Bobby. She awaited their reunion! Evelyn is survived by her daughter Lori (Boven) Wingeleth, her husband Bill, and their three children; Megan, Bobby (Abigail), and Ann Wingeleth (Kyle Hoffmann), and sister Barbara (Grube)Morren. She was also blessed to meet her two great-grandchildren, Beau and Rosie. She treasured her nieces and nephews who affectionately and humorously called her, "Sweet Auntie Ev"! As a New Year's baby, Evelyn truly lived up to the expectation of celebrating and loving life. She was a fun and funny mom, daughter, aunt, sister, grandma, and friend. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dale Boven and beloved son Robert Donald Boven, parents; Donald V. and Gertrude N. Grube, and sister Sharon A. Grube. Evelyn was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953. She completed an associates degree in medical transcription at Western Michigan College. She loved sports and as a young mom the neighborhood kids frequently asked her to join in on their football or baseball games in the middle of the street on Miles Avenue. In high school, Evelyn especially enjoyed being in the Robed Choir, played piano, and appreciated music throughout her life. Bob and Evelyn moved to Salt Lake City in 2007 to be closer to the grandchildren and their activities. They traveled many thousands of miles to attend choir/band concerts, volleyball, football, and basketball games, and endless track and field meets. They donated generously to whatever fundraiser the grandchildren were participating in, and always purchased whatever sport shoe of the season was needed for them, as well! Cheering on the "grands" and their friends was a major highlight of their lives! If you were a friend of the grandchildren, you were one of the family! Bob, Evelyn, and family were active in the Methodist Church through all of their many years together.

Evelyn's Celebration of Life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah with Pastor Bruce Kolasch officiating. A visitation will be held at on June 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. The service will be available on live stream at: christumcutah.org/sermons. Interment will be in Kalamazoo, Michigan. If anyone so desires, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Condolences may be sent to www.HolbrookMortuary.com.
