Eunice Joy (Kraus) Levy, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28th, 2025 at Friendship Village of Kalamazoo, surrounded by her family. She was born July 8th, 1945, to Cele(Silverman) and Joseph Kraus in St. Louis, Missouri. Just about as soon as she could walk, she began to dance. As a young child she took dance lessons and performed starting at three years old. Dancing led to many opportunities for Eunice, and she carried her love of dance with her throughout her life. At eighteen she ventured toward the University of Michigan in 1963. In her sophomore year she met Jack Levy, a dental student, and fell in love. They married in June 1967 and in 1969 started a life together in Kalamazoo, Michigan that would span 49 happy years. Eunice loved speaking French, traveling, Broadway shows, reading, and in middle age, practicing yoga. She was a teacher of many types: initially a French teacher, then for many years an accounting teacher, and finally a wise yoga teacher. She touched many students' lives. Her greatest love was her circle of friends and family. Her small family with her daughter Paulette and husband Jack, and her extended family of brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. When their grandchildren Noah and Elijah were born, they were overjoyed! They shared many happy times together, especially at their home on "H" Avenue where they played and explored. Eunice will be truly missed. She is survived by her daughter Paulette Banghart (Kerry); son-in-law Kyle(Sara Wallenfang) Thompson; grandchildren Noah and Elijah Thompson; brothers Alan Kraus, sister-in-law Linda Kraus and Michael(Kathy Kordelski) Kraus. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; parents, Cele and Joseph Kraus; sister-in-law Beverly(Alan) Kraus and brother Jerry(Linda) Kraus. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday October 7th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th St, Kalamazoo, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to the Alzheimer's Association. To view Eunice's personalized guestbook, please visit https://www.langelands.com
