Eugene Albert

Albert, Eugene Kalamazoo Age 85, passed away October 28, 2022. Gene was born in Minneapolis, MN, on October 20, 1937 the son of Elwin and Kathryn (Damm) Albert. Gene spent four years as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps. Gene met his future wife, Barbara Linihan in February, 1961. They were married on August 19, 1961. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary recently. They had two children, Michael Albert of Plymouth, MA, and Terri MacDonald of Kalamazoo. Gene was a 34-year member of the Kalamazoo Township Police Department. While there he made Lawman of the Year. Later he was named Police Officer of the Year for all of Kalamazoo County. He was also a volunteer with Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home and a Probation Officer volunteer. He also volunteered in an Explorer's Post and as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. He and Barb were also foster parents. Gene is survived by his wife and children; as well as his grandchildren, Brooke and Camryn of Marshfield, MA, Ben, twins, Lily and Sophie, and Liam of Plymouth, MA; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Scott Klink; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandy (Bob) Rider, Sue (Phil) Lawrence; three nephews and a niece; and countless friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; son-in-law, Rodney MacDonald; brother, James Albert; and a grandson, Baby Jake. No services are being planned at this time.
