She was born on August 10, 1947 in Aberdeen Mississippi, to the late Benjamin and Esther (Young) Smitherman, Sr. Esther will be greatly missed by her daughter, Denise Johnston; grandchildren, Andrew and Finch (Eostre) Johnston; sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Johnson; and her brother Jerry Smitherman.
