Benthin, Esther R. 6/7/1934 - 2/17/2022 Kalamazoo Esther Ruth Benthin went to be with the Lord at 87 years old on Thursday, February 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kalamazoo on June 7, 1934 to the late Peter and Gracie (Walters) Kiel. Esther married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Benthin on August 29, 1952. She started working part-time at Mulder's Moving with Bob somewhere in the 1960's and took care of the finances and kept the books. Bob and Esther purchased the business from Mulder in 1976 and all three sons joined them working in the moving company. Esther was completely dedicated to Bob and the business right up until she retired in 2016. She loved her work. One of Esther's biggest loves was her faith and her church, Greenwood Reformed Church. She loved singing in the choir, attending services, volunteering, teaching and was even Greenwood's first female elder. Esther's other big love was her family. Spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She loved her entire family unconditionally and was there to help anyone that might be in need. She loved attending the Kalamazoo Civic Players and Kalamazoo Symphony performances. She loved going out for any meal and enjoying other's company. Esther was able to live in her own home on her own right up until the time of her passing. Her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She knew she would see him someday at the end of her life. Esther is reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, oldest son Richard, and two sisters, June Spring and Mary Kiel. She will be missed terribly by all of us left behind, but heaven has gained a beautiful angel. She will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Esther is survived by her children, Keith (Cindy) Benthin, Brian (Sharon) Benthin; daughter in law, Marcia Benthin; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Alicia) Benthin, Ashley Blackwell, Christopher (Erin) Benthin, Nick (Taylor) Benthin, Jennifer (Jefferson) Klocke, Mandy Benthin, Rachel Wilks, and Kimberly (Jon) Hard; 11 great grandchildren, McKenz, Collin, Chase, Aspen, Leighton, Laura Ashley, Ayden, Jackson, Bentley, Ethan, and Perrie; and sister, Gracie Borton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Greenwood Reformed Church, 1815 Winton Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49001 with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm.
