Emma Battema

Battema, Edna L. Simi Valley, CA Passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the age of 98. Edna was born in Bailey Switch, KY on December 4, 1917, the daughter of the late Thomas J. Jackson and Ida L. (Hill) Jackson. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, CA and a past member of Loving Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gardena, CA. She was married to John P. Battema on August 20, 1938; he preceded her in death on December 8, 2010. She is survived by her sons, Terry (Marlys) Battema of Greenwood, IN, Dr. William (Jan) Battema of Woodbridge, CT and Ronald (Pat) Battema of Bristol, TN; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Willard, Charles, Walter, Elmer and Emery. Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. 1 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Edna's family suggests memorial contributions to a favorite charity .
