Ellen Holstrom

Ellen "Mae" Holstrom of Canton, MI passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018 just 2 days before her 96th birthday, in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born to parents Alta and Virgil Rodgers in 1922, and spent most of her life in Canton, before moving to Kalamazoo 19 years ago to be near her son and his family. She was preceded in death by husband Melvin Glenn Sanders who died serving our country during WW II. A few years later she married her second husband, Walter C. Holstrom, whom also preceded her in death. In addition, Mae was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Shafer & Donna Yoho; great-granddaughter Ellyse Kaye Sanders; a very special niece, Betty White; and most recently by her "Sonny Boy" Dennis Glenn Sanders this past July. Mae will be fondly remembered as a loving soul, an amazing cook, and baker of the best cream puffs and sugar cookies. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jeanne Perdue and her children, Lori Sandy, Shelly Mazeall (Michael), Kevin Sandy & Tricia Leak (John); daughter-in-law, Sally Sanders and her sons, Shaun Sanders (Dana), Brian Sanders (Sandra) & Todd Sanders (Maggie); many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Funeral service and interment were held in Canton, Ohio.
