Elena Baughman

Passed away peacefully on January 19, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. Elena was born on October 9, 1927 in Kedainai, Lithuania. Once in the U.S. she spent 13 years at the Immaculate Conception convent in Connecticut where she became Sister Mary Veronica. Thankfully she had a change of heart and was united in marriage to Donald Baughman in 1963. Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a sister and brother-in-law, Vyga and Daum Dikinis; and a brother-in-law, Vernon Jansen. She is survived by her children, David Baughman, Simon (Kathy) Baughman and Dona (Andy) Lytle; seven grandchildren, Amber and Haley Lytle (Dona), Nicholas and Christina Baughman (Simon), Reese, Collin, and Alyse Baughman (David); sister, Ira Jansen; brother, Eimuntas Imbrasas; many nieces and nephews. Elena was a loving mother and grandmother. She found her true calling as an extremely devoted grandmother. Education was an important part of her life and she attended several colleges, earning a degree from Annhurst College in Connecticut. Internment will take place January 28, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery located in Augusta, Michigan. If attending please arrive no later than 2:10 PM. An open house at Elenas home will follow.
