Edward L. Yaple, M.D.

Beloved husband, loving father and grandfather, Dr. Yaple passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015.

Dr. Yaple was born and raised in Kalamazoo to George Wilmott and Helen (Mason) Yaple. A lifelong lover of learning, he attended St. Augustine School, where he was actively involved in sports. He graduated from Kalamazoo College and continued on to Wayne State University College of Medicine where he trained as an orthopedic and hand surgeon. He and his young family returned to Kalamazoo where he practiced Orthopedic Medicine and Surgery for 35 years. He also cared for patients in the Three Rivers area, where is well remembered.

Dr. Yaple was preceded in death by his son, Karl J. Yaple; and his first wife, Carolyn Schlick. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Becky Bartlett Yaple; his children: Edward G. Yaple, George E. Yaple (Abhilasha Prasad), Joseph K. Yaple (Christine), Mary Mocanu (Christien), Elizabeth Carlson (Christopher); his stepchildren: Michael C. Meisling (Therese) and Rania Ampey (Christopher); nine grandchildren: Monica Meisling, Alexander Veillard, Curtis Meisling, Jordan Ampey, Olivia Ampey, Anjay Yaple, Arvin Yaple, Caden Carlson, and Lauren Carlson; mother of Elizabeth, Bonnie Ware Yaple; and cousins: Barbara LeMense (Phillip) and Haldon Shepard. Cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
