Edward G. Klepper, age 87, died at Crystal Woods on October 4, 2020. He was born September 7, 1933, in Kalamazoo, the son of Jacob and Glenna (Schied) Klepper. Ed graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1951. He worked as a carpenter alongside his dad until serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956. Upon his return to Kalamazoo, Ed worked as a plumber for Wheeler Blaney and later Upjohn/Pfizer, until his retirement. On October 5, 1956, Ed married his loving wife of 64 years Betty (Gerlofs). They were lifelong members of Centerpoint Church. Ed was an avid golfer, a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, a driver for Meals on Wheels, he enjoyed many years at deer camp, and was on the lawn crew at his church. He was a devoted spectator at all of his grandchildren's events. His family includes his wife Betty Klepper; his daughters: Kathy (David) McGreaham and Peg (Todd) Simonds; his daughter-in-law Roxanne Klepper; his grandchildren: Brett (Stephanie) McGreaham, Kaylee (Jared) Kehler, Luke McGreaham, Jake (Laura) Simonds, Kyle (Danielle) Simonds, Michael Klepper, and Eric (Katie) Klepper; his great-grandchildren: Mason, Allie, Sawyer, and Callie Simonds; his sister Joan VanderWoude; his brother-in-law Clare Gerlofs; special nephew Bob Meyer and many other nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his son Mike, his brother Jack and sisters Barb and Tina. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Centerpoint Church, 2345 10th St N, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where his Funeral Service will be held following at 11 AM with Pastor Jeff Porte officiating. The church requests you wear a mask and practice social distancing during your visit. A private graveside service with honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
