On Thursday April 16th, 2020 Edward R. Bommerscheim passed away at Alamo Nursinghome in Kalamazoo MI at the age of 92 from heart failure Ed was born on June 2nd, 1927 in Kalamazoo MI, to Roland Bommerscheim and Hazel (Vind). He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School in 1944 and he unlisted in the US army soon after and served during WWII. He retired from Bell telephone co. In 1986. Ed or Eddie as his friends and family called him enjoyed fishing when he was younger, going to tractor pulls, and a good flea market! During the late 70's early 80's he and his Son Mark were active members of the 19th Michigan volunteer infantry north south skirmish association. They enjoyed competitive shooting on various locations around Michigan, Ohio, and Virginia. Ed enjoyed endless hours mowing grass at his home he called Eddies Acres. He was a faithful member and caretaker of the Cooper Congregational Church where he enjoyed many pot luck dinners with other members and friends He leaves his girlfriend Marlene Shon of 20 years, his son, Mark Bommerscheim and his Wife Marcia, and his two grandsons Tyler and Seth Bommerscheim. He was preceded in death by his Sister Shirley Ginter, and daughter Judy (Bommerscheim) Kirk. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned in the future at the Cooper Congragational Church when gatherings are possible again.
