Dusty (Luann Sue Littlefield) Bjornstad Turcott, age 74, of Jackson, MI, passed away Thursday, July 7, at Jackson County Medicare Care Facility (JCMCF) in Jackson, MI. Dusty was born October 19, 1941, in Sturgis, the daughter of John and Ruth Littlefield. Dusty was a 1960 graduate of Sturgis High School and later earned a LPN Degree from Montcalm Community College in Ionia. Following High School, she married Jon Bjornstad while working at Radio Station WSTR in Sturgis, and moved to S California in 1961 where she supported her husband through college. In 1965, she and her husband joined the Peace Corps and served in Bolivia for 2 years. She later moved to Michigan where she was passionate about her nursing career for several years until disability lead her to other work. Dusty worked at Stannard's Music for a few years selling organs and pianos where she won Salesperson of the Year her very first year. She lived in Las Cruces, NM; Cordova, AK; Fullerton, CA; Portage, MI; and Jackson, MI. Divorced in 1972, she married Tim Turcott in 1976 and lived in Portage, MI for 30 years. Health issues brought on by a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and diabetes caused her to move to JCMCF in 2006. As an avid lover of life, Dusty played softball, rode bicycles thousands of miles around S California, and initiated many water fights. She mastered shorthand, roller skated gracefully, and enjoyed crafts. Music was a big part of her life; she played the accordion, guitar, organ, and had a beautiful voice which she shared with many. She was always in search of a meaningful role in her community and the lives around her. She was a champion of fairness and equality and had a tremendous devotion to honesty and her faith. She was kind and gentle, always striving to be compassionate with everyone. She is survived by her beloved son Jon (Jennifer) Bjornstad of Silver City, NM, and daughter Zae (Justin) Smith of Carmel, IN. A son, Kohl, died at childbirth. She is also survived by 3 granddaughters: Bella and Ava Bjornstad and Brinkley Smith. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy (Douglas) Lawson of Jackson, MI, and a brother, Donald (Mary Ann) Littlefield of Folsom, CA, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the home of Larry and Lynn Littlefield, 68711 Halfway Road, Burr Oak, MI, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, on Saturday, July 16, 2016. The family thanks the Jackson County Medical Care Facility for their loving care of Dusty for the past 8 years and suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Dusty's name consider making it to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at http://www.nationalmssociety.org/donate or to JCMCF.
