Duane Srackangast

Duane J. Srackangast, age 88 of Galesburg, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Borgess Hospital. He was born April 25, 1933, to John and Helene Srackangast and was a lifelong resident of Galesburg. Duane graduated from Galesburg Rural Agricultural School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army. Duane retired from Checker Motor Company where he was a machinist. He married Carol Srackangast on November 6, 1989, in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, his son Joseph Srackangast, and a stepson Donald Merriam. Surviving are his daughter, Sue Srackangast; his daughter-in-law, Alice Srackangast; his step-sons: Daniel (Diana) Merriam and Jeffrey Merriam; his grandchildren: Aaron (Meagan) Srackangast, Colene (Travis) Wade, Andrew Srackangast, and Zoe Srackangast; his step- grandchildren: Reginna Striebel, Stephanie Merriam, Dan Merriam, Jr., and Nathan Merriam, 4 great-grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 10:00 AM.
