Dr. William Sichel

83, passed away in Boca Raton, Florida on August 4, 2018. Formerly a long term resident of Kalamazoo who moved here in 1960 for a faculty position at Western Michigan University. He taught in the Department of Economics for 44 years serving as its chairman for 16 of those years. He was active in the Jewish community serving as President and then Trustee of The Congregation of Moses. He was an avid traveler (which he shared with his wife, Beatrice of 52 years, and significant other Marilyn Rosenblum for 5 years), photographer, and sports enthusiast. He is survived by son Dr. Larry Sichel, grandsons, Jacob, Adam and Ethan Sichel of Raleigh, NC. A daughter and son-in-law Linda and Rick Nachenberg and grandsons, Jay (of Los Angles) Koby and Ty of Columbia, MD. Funeral service will be held on August 14th 10 AM at the Langeland Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Rabbi Harvey Spivak officiating. Interment will take place in Jewish Riverside Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Congregation of Moses or Western Michigan University.
