Dr. Marlene J. Deschler, age 83, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Monica’s Senior Citizens Home. Marlene was born in Racine on July 29, 1932, daughter of the late Edward and Wilhelmine (Nee: Wilhelm) Deschler.

Marlene received a Doctorate in Public Administration and was an Associate Professor of rural health at the University of Kentucky. While there, she was made an honorary Kentucky Colonel. She was a gifted physical therapist and authored a manual on quality assurance for the American Physical Therapy Association in 1990. Marlene also worked for the Minnesota Department of Health for many years. Marlene was an avid collector of first generation Haitian paintings and collector of all things lionesque. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

She will be dearly missed by her sister, Dianne Anderson; her three nephews, Gary Anderson, Ralph (Marge) Anderson, David (Ann) Anderson; six great nieces and nephews; cousins, other relatives and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4340 Six Mile Rd, Friday, November 21, 2015, 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Christopher Lockie officiating. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Friday at the church 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Memorials to the Nature Conservancy have been suggested

Marlene’s family is indebted to the staff of St. Monica’s for the loving care given to their beloved relative.
